Retained by Brookfield, the 5th largest homebuilder in the nation, to lead their public affairs and communications for a 500+ home residential neighborhood.
Lennar Homes, one of the leading homebuilders in the U.S., retained The Musella Group to manage entitlement support efforts for their Aidlin Hills project in Stevenson Ranch, Calif.
Owners of the Century Plaza Hotel, Woodridge Capital retained us to manage public affairs for a 3,000-home master planned community of Northlake.
iStar Financial, a fully-integrated finance and investment company, retained us to activate community support for re-entitling a 500 home community in unincorporated LA County.
Newport Pacific Lands is developing The Highlands, an 800-home community in Santa Clarita Valley where we lead community coalition building efforts.

JOHN MUSELLA, President of The Musella Group, has been on the cutting edge of public relations for 20 years and is widely recognized as a trusted communications executive. Working for high-profile organizations and Fortune 500 companies, Musella has a proven track record of resolving complex business issues and effectively positioning companies and executives.
Musella has been featured recently by Angeleno magazine in their Modern Men edition for his excellence in public relations work as well as in LA Confidential magazine as a leader in LA’s LGBTQ+ community.
Prior to forming his own company, Musella cut his teeth in the PR agency world as Vice President of the Los Angeles office of one of the nation’s top-ranked PR firms, MWW Group. While there, he was instrumental in working with Shell Hydrogen in launching renewable energy fueling stations to the LA marketplace and with a major pet food manufacturer in successfully developing and implementing crisis communications strategies during a major national pet food recall.
Musella’s corporate communications experience includes serving as Director of Public Relations for KB Home, a Fortune 500 Company. His public affairs background includes positions with two of California’s most high-profile real estate developments: Director of Communications/Government & Environmental Affairs for Newhall Land’s Valencia and Newhall Ranch developments, and Corporate Affairs Manager for Playa Vista, one of the most significant urban infill developments in the nation.
Previously, Musella served as Press Deputy for LA County Supervisor Don Knabe, where he was the chief spokesperson to the media and primary speech writer. During his time in the Supervisor’s office, Musella was instrumental in helping create LA County’s first Civic Arts Policy and in developing the County’s Safe Surrender Baby Program.
A regional leader, Musella currently serves on the statewide Advisory Board of Equality California, the Board of Directors of the LA County Business Federation (BizFed), the Building Industry Association of Southern California LA/Ventura Chapter and the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation. Musella is also the immediate past Chairman of the Board for the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and past Co-Chair for the LA BizFed Water Committee. He has previously served as Vice President of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) LA Chapter and on the Board of Directors for PVJOBS, a Los Angeles non-profit which places at-risk individuals in construction related employment opportunities.
Musella is a graduate of Washington State University where he attended the nationally-ranked Edward R. Murrow College of Communication.
IVAN VOLSCHENK serves as the Chief Operations Officer of The Musella Group. Prior to starting with the company in 2017, Volschenk was the Founder and CEO of one of the most successful legal management software companies in South Africa.
At the age of 26, Volschenk started his own software company and personally designed and created a new financial software solution for the legal market. Headquartered in Johannesburg, SA, the financial capital of the continent of Africa, Volschenk grew the company to more than 2,500 users at 150 of the top-rated law firms across three Southern African countries. Today, the firm is managed by key senior-level staff while Ivan continues to provide design and management consulting.
After immigrating to the United States and relocating to Los Angeles, Volschenk joined The Musella Group to assist with managing the company and leading client accounts, including the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce. Volschenk is credited with helping move the Chamber into a strong financial position and was awarded the SCV Chamber’s inaugural Outstanding Service Award by the Board of Directors.
Today, Volschenk is Managing Partner of The Musella Group’s new venture, Evolve Business Strategies, a business management and consulting arm of the company. Volschenk’s business acumen, financial background, strategic thinking and entrepreneurial spirit will help guide organizations’ success.
PETER WARDA, Vice President at The Musella Group, brings his research, advocacy, and corporate communication skills, among others, to a broad spectrum of clients.
As Vice President, Peter leads client accounts, bringing a collaborative sensibility to every team he joins and strives to integrate the core values of The Musella Group with the goals of each client toward a collective vision of success. He brings public affairs experience working with corporations, tech companies, healthcare, startups, and non-profits. His primary focus has been state-wide and national campaigns, government affairs, community outreach, and public relations.
Prior to working at The Musella Group, he was with the Valley Industry & Commerce Association (VICA) and a member of the California State Senate.
He is a recent graduate from Pepperdine University, obtaining his Master of Public Policy with a specialization in State and Local Policy and International Relations. He also has a double Bachelor’s Degree from San Diego State University in Public Administration as well as International Security Conflict Resolution.
Peter is currently a board member for Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce’s young professional’s business council, NextSCV. The group aims to develop the next generation of leaders in the Santa Clarita Valley through personal and professional development, civic engagement and network building opportunities that ultimately stimulate local business and support the mission of the SCV Chamber of Commerce.
Born to two immigrant parents, Peter is a first-generation Assyrian-American. He currently serves as a Board of Director for the Assyrian American Association of Southern California, which is a non-profit whose mission is to advance the Assyrian-American community by concentrating on a wide spectrum of areas such as cultural and linguistic identity, public/governmental outreach and advocacy, education, arts and literature, and youth services.
